What do the Friends do?

Programs

Many of the programs offered by the Youth Services Librarian are sponsored by the Friends. We also offer book and author events, Sunday Afternoons at the Eldredge, community programs and special events throughout the year. Pick up a calendar of events at the Library or check out online calendar.

Volunteer Services

Willing volunteers support the library staff, enhancing services and programs.  Some volunteer activities include, but are not limited to, circulation, shelving, book repair, collection maintenance, book sale, seasonal and holiday decorations and floral arrangements, and special event planning.

Financial Assistance

For purchase of materials, equipment, grants for children's programs, website maintenance, museum passes and other needs as they arise.

Museum Passes

The Friends purchase passes to many local and regional museums to cover or reduce the cost of your family's admission.  Click on the link above to see the full list of passes we offer.  Advance reservation is suggested.  Please call the Front Desk (508-945-5170) to reserve your pass and if you have any further questions.

Learning Series

The Friends sponsor a Fall and Winter/Spring learning series each year.  It is a program of academic and general courses open to the public at a cost of $10 per course.  The series takes place Mondays through Thursdays in the lower level of the library.  Click on the link above to see the most current learning series programs.  If you have further questions, please contact program co-chairman Sheila Marx at 508-945-4058 or Barbara Fouhy at 508-945-5031, or call the Library at 508-945-5170.
