Eldredge Public Library, in partnership with St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church’s “Read & Ride” program, offers home delivery of library materials to Chatham residents who are not able to come in to the Library due to illness, injury or other circumstances, as well as transportation to and from the Library to attend a program.
When a patron requests this service he or she is matched with one of our volunteers, and all arrangements for pick-ups and deliveries are then made between patron and volunteer. Patrons may reserve their own books from home using the online catalog or by calling the Library, or they may give their requests to the volunteer.
If the patron prefers, Library staff will choose titles for the patron according to their wishes, such as, “I like bestsellers in large print”, “Send me some Academy Award-winning DVDs”, “I just discovered a new favorite author—can you pick some of his older titles?” or “I need some new mystery novels.”
If you’d rather browse & select your own items, but can’t drive to the Library, your volunteer can bring you here and home again; and the same is true if you want to attend a class or program at the Library.
All circulating materials are available for home delivery, including books (in regular & large print), audiobooks on CD, music CDs, and DVDs.
To receive home delivery you must have an Eldredge Public Library card. If you do not have a card, your volunteer can assist you in registering for one.
To sign up for delivery, just call the Library at 508-945-5170!
