Current Library Services During Covid-19

The Eldredge Public Library continues to adapt its services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Our priority is to manage the safety and well-being of our staff and patrons while increasing library services and access.  We understand that these changes in services and access will no doubt require adjustments in expectations for both our staff and our patrons. We ask for your patience and kindness as we navigate “doing business” in the world of Covid-19.

Please call the library at 508-945-5170 for any questions or to make an appointment to come into the library.  We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you back into the Library.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is the Library open?

  • As of October 13, 2020 we are opening our doors for in-person visits Tuesdays and Thursday from 10-4 by appointment. Limited services will include 1st floor browsing, copying, scanning and computer use.   We also offer contactless curbside pickup Monday - Saturday.  Download our brochure for additional instructions and the latest information on In-Library Services.   Complete instructions for the curbside pickup can be found here.

What services do you offer that are contactless?

  • We offer contactless curbside pickup, virtual programming for all ages, reader's advisory (staff picks, books lists, etc), reference service, Wi-Fi 24/7 around the building and homebound delivery.  Please call the library at 508-945-5170 for more information on any of these services.

Can I use a computer?

  • Yes.  Starting October 13th, appointments will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Call the Library at 508-945-5170 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Can I make a copy, scan or print documents?

  • Yes.  Starting October 13th, you will be able to make an appointment on Tuesday and Thursdays.  Self-service scanning, copying and wireless printing from your phone or laptop will be available.  Call the Library at 508-945-5170 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

How do I get a library card?

  • You can apply for a temporary CLAMS card online. You can also schedule an appointment to come into the Library and either get a new card or convert your temporary card to a permanent card.  To expedite this process, please fill out this form for new cards before you come into the Library.

Where can I return my library materials?

  • The book drop, located in the parking lot behind the Library, is open 24/7.  You will not be able to return your items inside the library.  Please return library items only - no donations.   There will be no overdue fines.   We do quarantine returned items for 96 hours before they are checked in.

I returned my books, why are they still on my account?

  • Once items are returned, and the book drop is unloaded, items are quarantined for 96 hours or more.  If it has been more than a week since you returned your item, and it is still on your account, please call the library at 508-945-5170.

Why is it taking so long to fulfill my request?

  • Many of the popular titles still have long wait lists.  If the item you requested did not have a wait list, it will take approximately 3 days to travel from the owning library to our library.  Once we receive the requested materials through our delivery service, the items are quarantined for 4 days at Eldredge Public Library.  Delivery of an item from another library is taking approximately 7 days at this time.  If it is an item the EPL owns and it's available, turnaround should be 1-2 days.

Will you take book donations?

  • We are not accepting book donations at this time.  If possible, the Friends Book Sale Committee asks that you hold your donations until we can accept them.  You can visit their webpage for more information.  Please do not leave donations by the door or book drop.
